YouTube Partner Program policy changes.
YouTube has been a platform which has let so many people portray their ideas and talent through YouTube channels. It has given a chance to people so they can show the world their creativeness and reap capital from the same via the YouTube Partner Program.
Anyone could start a channel of their choice and upload videos. The money they earn would be calculated according to the views gained.
A major part of the revenue earned through a YouTube channel are the ads that we see before or between the videos. It contributes to a large amount of the money made by a youtuber.
YouTube has announced a major revision in the Partner Program.
According to the new rules any YouTube channel can start gaining monetary benefits only after it has 10k views. There are many channels re-uploading popular videos in order to make a few extra bucks. This process is also known as ‘rebooting’. The new rules has been set for the same reason.
Also until a channel has 10k views, YouTube will not serve them with ads. The statement released by YouTube in their own words is “the new threshold gives us enough information to determine the validity of a channel.”
This move would help YouTube to check the authenticity and make sure that the channel is a genuine one. All applications for the YouTube Partner Program will reviewed by a team specifically appointed for this task.
The official announcement was made on the 6th of April, 2017. The channels making money till that day will not be affected. The decision will bring about a major change for youtubers after the date.
The already popular channels will not have to worry since 10k views wouldn’t be a huge task for them. However, the new channels which have recently started need to put in extra efforts to gain audience attention.
We can only wait and watch what kind of an impact this has on channel owners and the viewers.
