Developed by Appsomniacs for iOS and Android, this multiplayer game was first released worldwide for iOS on April 5, 2011. However, its popularity hit the roof with its Android release on March 18, 2015.
Its multiplayer nature, easy controls for both left and right handed players (Controls can be swapped in Settings, hail lefties!! 🙂 ), and a great variety of weapons and arenas to choose from made it one of the most downloaded apps on Google Play Store.
One could see college boys and even girls playing this game in groups whenever they got free time (the correspondent remembers a match between 12 players played for a duration of 15 minutes, he himself was 6th in it). Almost every 2nd phone had this game installed in it.
Pros: 1. Easy to play
2. Wide range of platforms
3. Connect with young audience
4. Multilplayer online and through Hotspot.
Cons: 1. Lack of defining updates( except the ones which launched some new arenas)
2. Android rooting allowed players to easily hack the game and sell/give those to other Android Users, thus killing the competition for iOS users. (The correspondent knows a guy who had an app to create a Mini Militia Mod with any kind modification like one-shot kills, unlimited ammo and rockets, etc.)
3. Rise of other games like Clash of Clans and sister game, Clash Royale.
Even though Mini Militia now has been relegated to “just another game” in the minds of users, it has the potential to win back if it focuses through smart advertising, new updates and most of all its basic idea, ” Simple fun for all”.
